Father’s Day is meant to acknowledge and celebrate the important role fathers play in the lives of their children and in society as a whole. The often tight-knit families of Hispanics is a cultural heritage that lends extra significance to days like Father’s Day and Mother’s Day here in Puerto Rico.
It’s traditional to give Dad a gift of some kind on Father’s Day and to tell him how much you appreciate him, perhaps, in a card or verbally. Many will travel to spend time with their father, and they may even go on a Father’s Day outing to a restaurant, to the beach, to a museum, or to a nature reserve like the El Yunque Rainforest.
