Corpus Christi 2026, 2027 and 2028 in Trinidad and Tobago
Corpus Christi Day is a public holiday in Trinidad and Tobago, and one of the major ones on the calendar. Corpus Christi celebrates the institution of the Lord’s Supper by Jesus and the Catholic belief in transubstantiation.
In 2026, Corpus Christi falls on Thursday 4 June. The holiday will be on Thursday 27 May in 2027.

Many in Trinidad and Tobago attend a special mass for Corpus Christi, where traditional hymns by Thomas Aquinas may be sung and where holy communion will be received after the priest preaches and blesses the sacraments.
After service, there is a solemn processions through the streets in Port of Spain, Scarborough, San Fernando, and elsewhere in the islands. The largest such procession is clearly the one that takes place near the cathedral in Port of Spain at Independence Square.
One peculiar tradition to take note of is that many gardeners in Trinidad and Tobago will plant on Corpus Christi Day, believing it will ensure a thriving crop. Traditionally, some even bring their seeds to mass to be blessed by a priest so they’ll be sure to thrive.
