King’s Birthday 2025, 2026 and 2027 in Sint Maarten

As the Caribbean island of Sint Maarten is part of The Kingdom of the Netherlands, though a separate country within that kingdom, it celebrates the birthday of Dutch King Willem-Alexander on 27 April along with the rest of the Dutch Kingdom.
The holiday’s current date reflects sitting monarch Willem-Alexander’s birthday, but the date had been 30 April when Willem’s mother Queen Beatrix had been in power. Also, it was then known as “Koninginnedag”, meaning Queen’s Day (Queen’s Birthday.)
King’s Birthday is a time to fly the Dutch flag and the flag of Sint Maarten high and proud. It is also a day when the governor of Sint Maarten gives an important patriotic speech. The king will also give out awards to worthy citizens on his birthday, and it’s not unusual if some in Sint Maarten are included as reward recipients.
