Most of the population here is Christian, and it is common for people to attend special church services or midnight masses on either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

However, the most unique Christmas tradition in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is probably the Nine Mornings Festival, a local tradition that sprung up about 100 years ago. What happens is that people get up around 3am and go to church during the nine days leading up to Christmas, though Sundays are excluded from the day-count.

During the nine days, many also engage in singing competitions, swimming at the beach, and other fun activities. There are fairs to attend, and there is a Christmas caroling contest where you sing both a Christmas song and a song you make up to fit an existing melody. Additionally, you will find live band music on the public streets and a public Christmas-tree light-up event.
