At the beginning of July is an official public holiday in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines called Carnival Monday. The following Tuesday is also a public holiday, called unsurprisingly, Carnival Tuesday.

Since 1976, “Vincy Mas” Carnivals have been held in June or July. Previously, they came just before Lent, but nowadays, the connection with Lent is gone in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Calypso music competitions, folk bands, dances, and a costumed parade and other events in the capital city of Kingston are the main attractions.
