New Year’s Day is a time of resolutions and starting fresh for some, while for others it is spent recovering from a big, late night spent with friends and family.
Saint Lucia comes alive around the time of the changing of the years. Both locals and tourists alike stream in to enjoy the festivities. There is an annual fireworks event at Gros Islet, which lies right on the beach. Rodney Bay is also scene to a lot of New Year’s partying in the streets and on the beach shores. There are galas and events at hotels and resorts all over the island.
Many people take the opportunity to visit Saint Lucia’s most notable sights on or around New Year’s Day. Viewing the majestic twin Pitons peaks, Sulphur Springs, and Pigeon Island National Park are especially popular.
