Christmas in Grenada is celebrated with a public holiday every 25 December, as it is in a majority of countries around the world. This Christian festivity commemorates the birth of Jesus, and is part of a 22-28 day season in the Christian calendar known as Advent.
In 2026, Christmas falls on Friday 25 December. The holiday will be on Saturday 25 December in 2027.

Whilst people celebrate on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, the climax comes on 6 January with Three Kings’ Day. On the night of 5 January, children go to bed hoping to find presents from the Three Kings who visited baby Jesus in the morning. And almost invariably, they do!
During the Christmas season, visiting nativity scenes, called “belenes”, is a major event in Grenada. The streets are full of large-sized and life-sized belenes and it becomes something of a competition. Most people also have a nativity scene in their home. Concerts, Christmas markets, and a Christmas lottery add additional interest to the season.
