New Year’s Day 2025, 2026 and 2027 in Dominica

New Year is observed in Dominica with a public holiday every 1 January. This holiday gives everyone an opportunity to rest after the major festivities of New Year’s Eve the previous day, 31 December.

For some people in Dominica, celebrations begin on New Year’s Eve with attendance at a special church service.

At these services, the minister will often emphasise the importance of thankfulness for the past year’s blessings and of dedicating oneself to displaying Christian character in the year ahead.

At service’s end, everyone head out to celebrate. The most conspicuous feature of the celebrations is an abundance of dancing. Loud, boisterous music is also a key part of the celebration, and of course, there are fireworks, firecrackers, and family New Year’s bashes all over the place.
