Christmas in the Cayman Islands is celebrated with a public holiday every 25 December, as it is in a majority of countries around the world. This Christian festivity commemorates the birth of Jesus, and is part of a 22-28 day season in the Christian calendar known as Advent.

Cayman Islands is careful to celebrate Christmas with plenty of gusto and for as long as possible each season. This is also a major Christmas destination for many tourists who want to get away from a white, snowy Christmas and find a white, sandy one!
Cayman Islands’ residents may attend church, spend time with family, go shopping, and attend a variety of Christmas-related events throughout December. There are major lights displays, Christmas parties everywhere, beach parties, and the 40-foot high Christmas tree at the Christmas Village in Camana Bay.
At home, Christmas dinner is dominated by beef dishes, while fruit cake and cakes doused with rum dominate for dessert. On the day after Christmas, many watch the Dashing Through The Sand beach race at Seven Mile Beach on Grand Cayman.
