School is often out this time of year, so when the adults get off work for Ascension Weekend, it’s the perfect time to go on a family outing or short vacation. The holiday lands anywhere between 30 April and 3 June, which means the weather is likely to be quite inviting for out-of-door activities.

On Aruba, it’s mostly Roman Catholic and Anglican churches that do much of anything for Ascension Day. However, that makes up a good chunk of the population, and all Christians appreciate the importance of what the holiday stands for.

Not everyone goes to church, however. And many go on early morning walks or bike rides or do some gardening or chores around the house on Ascension Day.
